MeSuá Dermocosmetic Spa^® is pleased to announce that this is an officially designated site for performing a clinical trial created by physicians and scientists at the University of South Florida (USF) to evaluate the benefits of growth hormone (GH) replacement therapy in aging. This is the first case in the U.S.A of a medical spa being chosen as a site for offering a university initiated, IRB approved protocol for GH replacement therapy and it underscores the high level of professional care that is available to clients of MeSuá Dermocosmetic Spa^®.

The clinical trial is called " Safety and Efficacy of Growth Hormone During the Somatopause".

The major incentive for using GH to sustain health and vitality during aging is that it has been shown to be effective in reducing abdominal fat and increasing muscle mass in elderly men. In light of these findings, many physicians and internet pharmacies have commercialized the use of GH without providing any plan to evaluate functional benefits or potential risks of long term use of the hormone.

Furthermore, little consideration has been given to appropriate dosages and the specific physiological needs of individual persons recieving GH replacement therapy. Accordingly, a protocol was created by endocrinologists, pharmacologists and other health professionals at USF to meet such needs and also to carefully evaluate functional outcome and safety associated with long term GH use. In accordance with federal regulations governing the use of human subjects in new medical therapies, the protocol was evaluated by the USF medical school Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure its scientific validity and ethical standards.

The IRB also makes annual reviews of the protocol and determines periodically whether it should be continued or stopped.  After review, the protocol was approved for initiation and participation by the public. In order to make the opportunity for participating in the program more accessible and because of the high professional standards of the MeSuá Dermocosmetic Spa®, it was selected as a satellite center for offering GH replacement therapy to its clients.

In compliance with the federal and state regulations, the protocol will also be monitored  by a local hospital IRB to ensure that the highest medical standards are maintained in the use GH as an anti-aging therapy.
